The Christian Inheritance
The issue of inheritance crossed my mind lately as a Christian. The droning of its attention was attendant on what, not long ago, a Christian brother shared with me. “I had lost all hope in every area of life, through and through,” he told me. “To commit suicide was even not a promising choice as one is expected to know what one’s driving force is,” he concluded.
The story has it that every one of his attempts to secure what to be doing ended up in quizzical quagmire. He spoke to people who would appear to be sympathetic who would all too soon renege on their promises upon the young man’s appearance at places he was on appointment. “These people don’t ever seem to know that it is always worse than difficult for me to source for transport fares to come to their offices,” he once grumbled aloud with tears rolling down his eyes.
Reluctantly, one afternoon, he reached for his Bible. He closed his eyes and requested God to lead him to a passage that would expressly address his predicament. “Blind opening” you may wish to call it. “Behold I opened to Psalm 47 and began to read from the first verse and by the time I got to the fourth verse I was done” he enthused.
“O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph. For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth. He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet. He shall choose our inheritance for us, the Excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.”
What can hook your attention and kick you into meditation is: “He shall choose our inheritance for us.” That’s pretty interesting. God’s promise in this passage is very clear. When He chooses our inheritance who is the satanic attorney that can challenge Him? None! Instantaneously I directed his eyes to the sentence before that: “He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.” What a powerful promise for the Christians! My brethren, claim it.
God shows up and subdues all that would appear to be insurmountable just when man concludes that his problem is terminal and hopeless. He watches on and waits for you to recognize and acknowledge that you need Him. When you do so in all sincerity of your heart He steps in, in His majesty, wisdom and might He takes perfect control of the raging situation.
You may recall Job’s ordeal. Because he had unshakeable faith in God he received double the wealth and affluence he had before his unpleasant experience. It is only God that can act and react with such precision and accuracy. Christians, remember this always that your inheritance is in God, the one that is called the Rose of Sharon.
Always Dwell In The Shelter Of The Most High – Part 1
When you dwell in the shelter of someone, you come under the protection and covering of that person. You are in agreement with them because they are shielding you. They give you a refuge and protect you from anything that may want to harm you. You feel safe with them and trust them as long as you are under their shelter.
Dwelling in the shelter of the Most High God means accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour. Then you will be under God’s covering and divine protection. Once you are under His shelter, you will trust Him completely and you will operate under His authority, covering and leadership. Our God is a willing, caring, available and trusted Confidant. Dwelling under God’s shelter is more powerful than dwelling under the shelter of man, as God will never let you down.
He is our Strength, mighty Rock, Fortress, Stronghold and High Tower. King David ran to Him for refuge and he was a man after God’s heart. David says in Psalm 91:1-3, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust”. Surely He will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence”.
Once you are under God’s shelter, He will build a protective wall around you and no harm will befall you. You will be sheltered by God, who is above all gods. He will rescue you from every trap and protect you from the fatal plague. His wings will be a shield for you and His faithful promises will be your armour.
Evil will not overtake you because He will command His angels to protect you wherever you go. They will steady you with their hands to keep you from stumbling against the rock. If you remain under Jehovah’s shelter always, you can safely meet a lion or step on poisonous snake and even trample them under your feet. There will be no need for you to be afraid anymore, nor fear the dangers of the day. You will not dread the plagues of darkness nor disasters in the morning.
Child of God, I encourage you to be like King David who took shelter under the Most High God. He never regretted dropping his heavy load and running for cover under Jehovah. He loved the Lord and his heart was for Him. Hence, he was protected by the Almighty, even when he was in the war front. As the Lord fought David’s battles for him, He will fight yours as well, if you continue to dwell under His shelter. PEACE
PRAYER OF SALVATION
If you have not already committed your life to Jesus and you would like to do so now, please pray this prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I am sorry for all the things I have done wrong. Thank you for dying for me on the cross, to set me free from my sins. I ask you to come into my life as my personal Lord and Saviour, and fill me with the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord Jesus. Amen.”
Congratulations, if you have prayed this prayer. Please look for a Bible-believing church, to fellowship with the brethren. Please do not hesitate to contact me, if I can be of any assistance to you. Remain blessed and enjoy the presence of the Lord.
